About The Body Segment

You may be familiar with the expression, that when you look good, you feel good. I can totally relate to that. Dressed in dowdy clothes with unruly hair and little or no make-up does contribute to a degree of lethargy and being somewhat of a slouch.

On the other hand when one does take the time to dress, it certainly perks one up and I believe helps to create a more positive outlook on things. This is just outward appearances making a difference to one's demeanor.

More and more health specialists have found that what the body consumes has a tremendous impact on lifestyles. Medical evidence shows that overeating may lead to obesity which could result in diabetes and a host of chronic diseases. Not exercising our bodies can lead to health problems as well. Diet and exercise is advocated by health professionals.

There are also numerous examples of people turning around a poor diagnosis to one that is healthy, by making changes in diet and lifestyles. This series of articles concentrates on taking care of our bodies and the benefits that can accrue, recognizing that there is no such clear demarcation between body and mind.

How we treat our bodies has a direct relation to our feelings, emotions and our relationships. A series of articles related to the these topics is included in the segment, Mind.

Taking care of our bodies, physically, has an impact on our total well being and certainly relates to our state of mind. Neglecting our bodies by abusing drugs, alcohol, hygiene, and overeating, impacts our health. It also affects how we relate to co-workers, family and friends and the way we function generally.

The segment about the body is separated for practical purposes.

The links above will lead you to articles that describe the importance of taking care of ourselves in various physical bodily aspects. These articles refer to those of us who are endowed with good health but fail to follow steps to maintain that health. The articles do no refer to those afflicted with genetic disorders and conditions that are beyond our control.

The types of food we eat also impact our well being, both body and mind. For the sake of convenience and because the segment on recipes is rather large, it is included in another segment.
